  • New Transitional Housing for Homeless Veterans Coming to Central Queensland

Roseberry Qld is proud to announce its successful application for funding under the Australian Government’s Veterans’ Acute Housing Program, enabling the purchase and transformation of an existing motel in Gladstone into transitional accommodation for homeless veterans and their families across Central Queensland. This initiative marks a significant milestone, as it will become the only dedicated transitional housing facility for veterans in the region. The project aims to provide not only shelter but also comprehensive wraparound support services in collaboration with QLD RSL and other veteran support agencies. Partner organisations include RSL Queensland, Gladstone Women’s Health, Sunshine Coast University Thompson Institute and Hospital for PTSD, Thompson Brain and Mind Health Care, and Central Queensland University, ensuring a holistic approach to veteran care and recovery. Renovations are scheduled to commence late 2025, with expected completion in the first half of 2026. “At Roseberry Qld, we are proud to be delivering this new housing program in partnership with the RSL for Central Queensland. Providing essential services to those who have given so much to our nation, said Jo Paringatai, General Manager of Roseberry Qld. "By offering accommodation, we're not just providing shelter; we're giving hope and a path to stability for veterans and their families.” “Homelessness among veterans is a pressing issue and this accommodation aims to address this by offering immediate support and long-term solutions – right here in Gladstone, said Mr Ed Dahlheimer, President of the Gladstone RSL. "This housing initiative stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to ensuring no veteran is left behind." • ConocoPhillips the downstream operator of Australia Pacific LNG Becomes First Corporate Partner of the Dignity Hub's Community Alliance

Roseberry Qld is proud to announce ConocoPhillips the downstream operator of Australia Pacific LNG as the first corporate partner of its newly launched Dignity Hub Community Alliance, committing $50,000 to support the Dignity Hub’s expanding services in the Gladstone region.   This funding will help establish a Dignity Hub Coordinator and support role—positions that are essential to managing daily operations, supporting volunteers, and ensuring consistent, safe service delivery for people experiencing homelessness or hardship.   “We are honoured to support the Dignity Hub and the incredible work Roseberry are doing in our community,” said Chantale Lane, Stakeholder Relations Manager, for ConcoPhillips. “This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting local initiatives that provide dignity, care, and practical support to those who need it most.”   “Having a dedicated coordinator is what transforms good intentions into real impact,” said Roseberry Qld General Manager Jo Paringatai. “It means we can extend our hours, reach more people, and ensure every person who walks through our doors receives the care they deserve.”   About the Dignity Hub   Established in 2017 and now located at 21 Dawson Road, Gladstone, the Dignity Hub is a welcoming space for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, housing stress, or social disadvantage. It offers hot meals, showers, laundry facilities, food parcels, and access to essential items and support services.   The Hub supported approximately 4,000 people this past financial year, a significant increase from 850 in its first year—highlighting the growing need for community support.    Join the Community Alliance   With demand rising, the Dignity Hub is calling on more businesses and organisations to join the Community Alliance. By investing in the people who make the Hub run, partners can help create lasting change in the lives of those doing it tough.  To find out how you can get involved, please contact:  Tara Manning  (07) 4972 0047  tara.manning@roseberry.org.au

  • Yaralla Sports Club and Roseberry Qld Join Forces to Feed Gladstone Locals in Need

Hundreds of nutritious meals are being donated to vulnerable community members thanks to a new ongoing partnership between Yaralla Sports Club and Roseberry Queensland. The initiative will see surplus meals from Yaralla’s Encore Restaurant frozen and delivered to Roseberry’s Dignity Hub, a vital service supporting those doing it tough in the Gladstone region.  The Dignity Hub provides a safe, welcoming space where people can access showers and toilets, fresh clothes, toiletries and a listening ear. The Dignity Hub also offers food hampers, a hot meal and referral and advice. These simple yet powerful services help restore dignity, build confidence, and offer a sense of normalcy to those facing hardship. “The face of hardship is changing,” said Roseberry Queensland General Manager, Jo Paringatai. “With the rising cost of living, we’re seeing more people—many who have never needed help before—turning to the Hub. Families who once managed are now struggling to afford groceries. People are sleeping in their cars and coming to us for a shower before heading to work. These are not isolated cases.”  Yaralla Sports Club is proud to be part of the solution. “We’re pleased to be able to put this food to good use,” said Liz Carruthers, Chief Operations Officer for Yaralla. “The meals are frozen the same day and it’s great to see them helping people instead of going into our bins.”  The Dignity Hub, which receives no government funding, relies entirely on community support and donations to operate. It is on track to assist over 4,000 people this financial year.  “It’s partnerships like this that help the Dignity Hub operate,” added Roseberry’s General Manager. “We are so grateful to Liz and the whole team at Yaralla for their generosity and commitment to our community.”  To find out how you can get involved, please contact:  Tara Manning  (07) 4972 0047  tara.manning@roseberry.org.au
