Our History
Roseberry has a long, proud history of making a positive difference, growing stronger through years of community involvement.

Road to Roseberry
In the 1980s, Kay Bernard embarked on a tour of seven (7) States within the USA with the State Government and the Church of Latter-day Saints. During this trip, she discovered an innovative program in Utah designed to support young people experiencing homelessness or unsafe living conditions. This program allowed young individuals to drop in and seek advice from various professionals, including solicitors, doctors, and nurses, addressing the diverse challenges they faced.
Inspired by this initiative, the initial steering committee (Kay Bernard – President), Chris Barlow – Vice President, Dennis Burnett - Treasurer, Bettina Nissen - Secretary, Geoff Gray, Kev Dwyer, Steve Jesienowski, and David Cowper) established Gladstone Youth Crisis Accommodation Commitee in 1984 as a safe haven for young people, providing them with a place to stay and the support they need. Roseberry House opened in 1986 in Roseberry St, our Welcome to the Brand Style Guide. This document outlines the key elements of our brand, including visual, verbal, and experiential components. It ensures consistency across all brand touchpoints.
company name derived from this original program. Now, 40 years later, Roseberry Qld has significantly expanded its services and continues to play a vital role in supporting the homeless across Central Queensland.
Since its inception, Roseberry Qld has evolved into a community-based organisation dedicated to empowering people and families facing difficulties. Our mission is to foster resilience and safety, ensuring that every individual has access to the resources necessary for a healthy and productive life. Through our holistic approach, we aim to create genuine community change and improve outcomes for those we serve.
