Roseberry Qld is proud to announce its successful application for funding under the Australian Government’s Veterans’ Acute Housing Program, enabling the purchase and transformation of an existing motel in Gladstone into transitional accommodation for homeless veterans and their families across Central Queensland.
This initiative marks a significant milestone, as it will become the only dedicated transitional housing facility for veterans in the region. The project aims to provide not only shelter but also comprehensive wraparound support services in collaboration with QLD RSL and other veteran support agencies.
Partner organisations include RSL Queensland, Gladstone Women’s Health, Sunshine Coast University Thompson Institute and Hospital for PTSD, Thompson Brain and Mind Health Care, and Central Queensland University, ensuring a holistic approach to veteran care and recovery.
Renovations are scheduled to commence late 2025, with expected completion in the first half of 2026.
“At Roseberry Qld, we are proud to be delivering this new housing program in partnership with the RSL for Central Queensland. Providing essential services to those who have given so much to our nation, said Jo Paringatai, General Manager of Roseberry Qld. "By offering accommodation, we're not just providing shelter; we're giving hope and a path to stability for veterans and their families.”
“Homelessness among veterans is a pressing issue and this accommodation aims to address this by offering immediate support and long-term solutions – right here in Gladstone, said Mr Ed Dahlheimer, President of the Gladstone RSL. "This housing initiative stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to ensuring no veteran is left behind."
